Job summary

Carlisle Brake & Friction in Bloomington, IN seeks a General Machine Operator to run mechanical or automated presses and related equipment for brake, clutch and transmission components. This role includes setup/teardown, safety practices, and quality checks.

Shifts available: 2nd (2:45 PM–11:15 PM) and 3rd (10:45 PM–7:15 AM). Responsibilities include housekeeping, documentation, and teamwork in a clean, well-equipped facility with benefits offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 0-2 years prior manufacturing or machine operating experience, but no experience is welcomed.
• Ability to lift tooling and products up to ~50 pounds.
• Demonstrated ability to use measuring tools (Gauges, Indicators, etc.).
• Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak English at 12th grade level or better.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel.
• Ability to work any shift and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate mechanical or automated machinery for production of brake, clutch and transmission components.
• Review equipment at shift start to ensure proper working order.
• Ensure materials are available and notify supervision of shortages.
• Adjust equipment parameters as per router.
• Perform quality checks per control plan.
• Complete hour-by-hour boards with issue documentation and propose improvements.
• Monitor equipment and notify supervision of issues.
• Maintain and clean equipment before and after each shift.
• Complete operator-specific preventative maintenance procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Description

The General Machine Operator is responsible for operating mechanical or automated machinery for the production of high performance and severe duty brake, clutch and transmission applications. Duties may include operating various types of manufacturing presses, blankers, grinders, and coating operations. Additional set-up and tear down of specific components may also be required.

Shift Details:
2nd shift - 2:45 PM- 11:15 PM
3rd Shift - 10:45 - 7:15 AM

The following job responsibilities are expected to be performed satisfactorily with supervision in a training status:

• Perform operations in a safe manner.
• Review equipment at the beginning of shift to ensure proper working order.
• Ensure needed materials are ready and notify supervision of shortages.
• Adjust equipment parameters as stated in the router.
• Operate equipment as stated in the router.
• Perform quality checks per control plan.
• Complete hour by hour boards with documentation of issues if goals are not attained and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Monitor equipment to ensure optimum running and notify supervision of any equipment issues.
• Maintain and clean equipment before and after each shift.
• Complete operator specific preventative maintenance procedures.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 0-2 years prior manufacturing or machine operating experience but, no experience is welcomed
• Ability to lift tooling and products weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
• Demonstrated ability to use measuring tools (Gauges, Indicators, etc.)
• Ability to read, write, comprehend and speak English at the 12th grade level or better.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel.
• Ability to work any shift and overtime as needed.
