Job summary

Unique Industries is seeking a Machine Operator to set up, operate and monitor paper plate forming machines under supervision. You will inspect parts, perform preventative maintenance, and keep equipment clean and well-lubricated daily.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, loading materials, ensuring product quality through forming and packaging, and coordinating with Packers to maintain efficient production with minimal waste. Strong mechanical aptitude and safety training are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of related experience and/or training in a manufacturing role required.
• Knowledge and enforcement of machine safety (lock-out/tagout, hand tools, etc.).
• Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training.

• Troubleshoot issues during operation for forming presses and packaging line equipment.
• Supply and install raw materials for forming presses and packaging equipment.
• Monitor product quality as it is discharged from forming machines and during packaging.
• Monitor quality of packaged product after packaging line.
• Coordinate with Packers to ensure continuous production of correct, high-quality product.
• Load paperboard rolls onto machines with correct placement.
• Assist Packers when lines run efficiently.
• Report machine settings daily and give detailed feedback on issues/defective parts.
• Perform routine inspection, cleaning, and lubrication of machine parts.
• Document production line productivity and losses with leadership.
• Perform other related duties as required.

PRIMARY DUTY

Under the direct supervision of the Shift Supervisor, the Machine Operator is responsible for the set up, operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and performing of preventative maintenance on assigned paper plate forming machines. The Machine Operator will also be responsible for inspecting parts to specifications and making any adjustments or changes necessary to maintain a quality product. This position will clean, inspect, and lubricate the machine each day to keep it in good working order.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate and maintain a minimum of two plate forming presses along with two sets of packaging lines.
• Troubleshoot problems during operation for both the forming presses and packaging line equipment.
• Supply and install all raw material for the forming presses and packaging equipment as needed.
• Monitor quality of product as it is discharged from forming machines, such as formation, stack configuration, print quality, delivery to packaging line, etc.
• Monitor the quality of the packaged product after passing through the packaging line.
• Communicate with assigned Packers to ensure continuous production of the correct product at high quality levels with minimal wasted time and materials.
• Load paperboard rolls onto machine ensuring placement is correct.
• Assist the Packers in packing product when lines are running efficiently without issue.
• Report machine settings daily and provide detailed feedback about issues and defective parts.
• Perform routine inspection, cleaning, and lubing of machine parts during scheduled times.
• Document production line productivity and losses with leadership and shift counterparts.
• Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or High School Diploma Equivalency required.

• Knowledge and enforcement of machine safety, i.e., lock-out/tagout procedures, hand tool safety, etc.
• Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• While performing the duties of this job, this position is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use repetitive hand motions for up to twelve hours.
• While performing the duties of this position this position is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme temperatures, and noise. Must wear required PPE at all times on production floor.
• While performing the duties of this job, this position is occasionally required to reach overhead, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and lift up to 50 lbs.
