The Windak Operator is responsible for re-reeling bulk cable and wire onto smaller plywood reels while maintaining a safe and efficient work area. This role requires careful attention to product quality and compliance with all company safety procedures. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work well with others. Successful candidates must follow established procedures, communicate effectively, assist with cross-training fellow employees, and keep their work area clean and organized.
Responsibilities
- Re-reel bulk cable and wire onto smaller reels in the required sizes and quantities. Load and unload the dual take-up machine, operate the payoff, and use other re-reeling equipment.
- Package and label finished products for further processing, storage, or shipment using labeling, printing, and inventory equipment.
- Load finished reels onto pallets and place them in storage or stage them for shipment.
- Check footage counter calibration at scheduled intervals.
- Record production data in the designated system.
- Assemble plywood reels as needed to keep production moving.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area, communicate with team members, and assist with cross-training.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; additional education or training is a plus.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions.
- Basic math skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to safely operate material handling and packaging equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
Schedule & Compensation
- Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
- Starting Rate: $18.00 per hour. Also, excellent opportunities for job advancement and pay increases through our wage progression program based on training completion, excellent attendance and tenure.
