Job summary

Pratt Industries in Austell, GA is seeking a Machine Operator to run and maintain the corrugated production line on the 1st shift. You will set up, operate, clean, and suggest improvements to daily operations.

You will monitor product quality, assist with machine setup and repairs, train helpers, cross-train on other machines, complete production and safety reports, and help optimize the schedule while upholding all safety and housekeeping standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred, not required.
• Prior experience as a helper preferred.
• Prior experience in the corrugated industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor product quality including loose liner, warp, correct size, and print.
• Check equipment for damage.
• Maximize equipment utilization by operating at available capacity and speed.
• Train and assist First and Second Helpers with job duties on the machine.
• Cross-train on other machines.
• Complete reports in a timely manner: Production Data, Machine Status, Safety Data, Quality Data.
• Submit maintenance work orders for repairs and participate in preventive maintenance.
• Switch duties with First Helper as needed.
• Comply with all policies and maintain good housekeeping.
• Adhere to production schedule and suggest improvements for cost, quality and service.

Job Description

Overview:

• Responsible for all activities associated with running the machine, including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Monitor product quality, including, but not limited to, loose liner, warp, correct size, and print.
• Check equipment for damage.
• Maximize the utilization of equipment by operating the machinery at available capacity and speed.
• Train and assist First and Second Helpers with job duties on the machine.
• Cross-train on other machines.
• Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data.
• Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs. Be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.
• Switch duties with First Helper as necessary.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
• Adhere to production schedule. Makes recommendations for optimizing the schedule to meet cost, quality and service goals. Reports any unusual scheduling issues to the supervisor.
• Additional duties may be assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• Must be able to learn and assist in mechanical set up.
• Must be able to help troubleshoot problems and assist in necessary repairs.
• Must have a reasonable knowledge of current Production Software.

Educational Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred, not required.
• Prior experience as a helper preferred.
• Prior experience in the corrugated industry preferred.

Physical Demands:

• The employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear.
• The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit.
• Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

• Work space is not climate controlled and can reach both hot and cold extremes (30 degrees – 110 degrees Fahrenheit).
