Job summary

OBE is hiring a Machine Operator 2 in Warrenton, MO to build and package crates for glass products. You will read orders, cut lumber, assemble crates, and handle materials with tools and equipment while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to work overtime as needed. Training will be provided to support efficient production and on-time shipping.

Qualifications

  • Previous manufacturing, assembly, carpentry, crating, or production experience preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, saws, nail guns, and other equipment used in crate construction.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, production schedules, specifications, and shipping requirements.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations and accurately use measuring devices, including tape measures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products and packaging.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work safely around glass products, moving equipment, and production machinery.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Punctual with excellent attendance and dependability.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and flexible schedules as business needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Build and assemble custom wood crates, boxes, and shipping containers according to product specifications and customer requirements.
  • Read and interpret work orders, packaging instructions, and production schedules to ensure crates are built accurately and efficiently.
  • Measure, cut, and assemble lumber and other packaging materials using hand tools, power tools, and production equipment.
  • Verify crate dimensions and packaging requirements to ensure proper fit and product protection.
  • Maintain inventory of lumber, hardware, fasteners, packaging materials, and related supplies; notify leadership of replenishment needs.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment as needed to move materials and finished products safely throughout the facility.
  • Perform basic equipment setup, adjustments, and preventative maintenance activities as required.
  • Accurately complete production, quality, and shipping documentation as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company housekeeping and safety standards.
  • Identify and report material shortages, quality concerns, equipment issues, and safety hazards to department leadership.
  • Work closely with production, quality, and shipping teams to ensure products are prepared and packaged to meet customer delivery schedules.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and quality standards.
  • Assist in other production areas and perform additional duties as assigned to support overall plant operations.

The Machine Operator 2 - Crating Department is primarily responsible for building, assembling, and preparing shipping crates and packaging used to safely transport finished glass products to customers. This role is ideal for an individual with manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, good mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.

  • Experience using saws, pneumatic tools, and other woodworking equipment
  • Knowledge of packaging, transportation, and product protection requirements
  • Experience working in a production-driven environment with safety, quality, and productivity expectations
