BlueScope in Jackson, TN is seeking a Machine Operator 1 to set up and operate production machinery, read blueprints, and adjust settings to meet specifications. You will perform first piece inspections and participate in 5S housekeeping and continuous improvement.

You will use cranes or hoists to move material, handle measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers, and maintain inventory. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of manufacturing experience,

Competenze

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools.
• Knowledge of production processes and machine operation.

Mansioni

• Set up machines and verify specifications for materials from drawings/blueprints.
• Operate machines to cut, punch, bend, weld or shape materials as required.
• Perform First Piece Inspections and other quality checks.
• Maintain housekeeping, 5S, and general equipment maintenance.

The Machine Operator 1 reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery, as well as adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications and in a timely fashion.Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesOperate machines to cut, punch, bend, weld or otherwise shape material into specified components to support current material demandsSet up machine and confirm specifications for needed material from drawings, blueprints, tablet or other meansUse lifting devices such as cranes, forklifts or other equipment to place materials/parts where neededUse appropriate measuring tools, processes and systems to perform First Piece Inspection and other quality checks before, during and after production to confirm material and/or product meets specificationsActively participates in continuous improvement and corrective action activitiesMaintain inventory or material used and general machine maintenancePerform housekeeping, 5S and other duties as assignedQualificationsMinimum Education & Experience QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent, or attain ACT WorkKeys Assessment at certified job profile skill levelPreferred Education & Experience Qualifications1 year experience in a manufacturing environmentTechnical Skills & CompetenciesBasic Computer skillsKnowledge or raw materials and production processesKnowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenanceAbility to read blueprintsOverhead crane and/or hoists.
