Job summary

Sandvik Coromant Westminster in Westminster, SC seeks a Machine Operator for the 2nd shift (3:00 PM to 11:15 PM) to support furnace operations in the coating department. You will load/unload furnaces, maintain equipment, and follow detailed work instructions.

You will monitor processes via control systems, perform PM activities, inspect outputs with microscopes, and ensure safety and quality standards are met. Opportunities for training and advancement are provided.

Qualifications

• High attention to details with a strong visual perception.
• Experience with measuring gauges and equipment.
• Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing preferred.
• 2 years’ experience in a mechanical or processing industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload furnaces and maintain machines as part of coating operations.
• Obtain materials and manage storage, including gas cylinders.
• Monitor coating processes via computerized control systems and manual equipment; adjust as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance and PM activities on furnace components.
• Visually inspect material and processed work for defects using microscopes.
• Maintain accurate documentation for SPC, inventory, and production records.

Loading and unloading furnaces while keeping machines maintained. This role requires a high level of strict skill, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards.Additionally, the Furnace Operator will:* Perform manufacturing processes per prescribed work instructions.* Obtain work materials and place them in appropriate in-process or finished product storage areas, including changing out gas cylinders.* Monitor and troubleshoot coating processes via computerized control systems and manual equipment and monitor gas and water supply systems.* Perform manual adjustments on computerized control systems as necessary, as instructed by engineering/management.* Perform routine and unscheduled maintenance and PM activities on furnace components, including using cranes and forklifts.* Visually inspect material and processed work for defects such as fallout, flaking, and edge chips using microscopes as required.* Obtain and return supplies and materials, clean assigned equipment and area at the end of work assignments and properly store equipment when not in use.* Maintain SPC, production, inventory, and other required documentation records, including taking inventory as assigned and completing operational checklists.* Understand and work with product prints and specifications (knowledge of procedures/operations).* Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of assigned areas and observe company policies.* Ensure each phase of the operation is in full compliance with all company, state, and/or federal and environmental regulations.* Perform responsibilities with minimal supervision and/or technical assistance, completing work under standardized procedures.* Ensure work and service fully meet internal and external customer requirements and expectations, including quality standards.**Your profile*** High attention to details with a strong visual perception.* Experienced in the use of various measuring gauges and equipment.* Knowledge of 5S and lean manufacturing preferred.* 2 years’ experience working in a mechanical or processing industry preferred.**Education**High School Diploma.**Shift**2nd (3:00PM to 11:15PM)**Benefits**Sandvik offers a comprehensive total compensation package including a competitive benefits package of health, dental and disability insurance, and a 401(k)-retirement savings plan.
