Job summary

Oldcastle APG is seeking a machine operator in South Carolina to operate machinery per safety policies and production standards, ensuring a superior product. You will read specs, adjust settings, and monitor performance.

The role requires a basic understanding of electronics, hydraulics, and tooling, plus reading maintenance instructions. Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail are valued, with growth opportunities within a large CRH family.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; or related experience.
• Basic understanding of electronics and programmable controllers.
• Knowledge of hydraulics, electricity, and tools.
• Ability to read safety rules and operation/maintenance instructions.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic and read measurements.

Responsibilities

• Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements
• Set stops or guides to specific lengths as indicated by scale, rule or templates
• Observe machine operation to detect product defects or machine malfunction
• Review product for inconsistencies or abnormal appearance assuring product meets quality requirements
• Perform routine machine maintenance
• Assist other operators to set up machines and any other necessary tasks to adhere to deadlines and completion of product
• Make sure all housekeeping is maintained in a clear and orderly fashion in assigned area

Job Summary

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; or at least one month of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Basic understanding of electronics and programmable controllers
• Knowledge of the basics of hydraulics, electricity, and tools
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Must encompass computer literacy as well as strong mechanical ability
• Leadership abilities preferred
