Scotts Miracle-Gro in Orrville, OH is seeking a Machine Operator to run mulch and soil bagging lines at our production plant. This hourly role offers weekly pay and begins at $24.50 per hour with a step pay progression.

You will operate equipment, maintain quality and safety checks, and assist with material handling. A High School diploma and 1+ year production experience are preferred; overtime including weekends may be required.

• Able to lift 50 pounds and work in dusty/hot/cold/rainy conditions.
• Willingness to work mandatory overtime including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Operate mulch and soil bagging lines.
• Operate forklift to transport materials.
• Maintain good housekeeping standards in assigned area.
• Maintain and clean machines before and after each shift.
• Perform routine safety and quality checks.
• Resolve daily operations problems with limited supervision.
• Maintain records of materials, samples and equipment operations.
• Support plant operations, including loader operations and yard work.
• All other duties as assigned.

This hourly role follows the Scotts step pay progression scale and typically starts at $24.50 per hour and is paid weekly. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.

The Machine Operator will be working at our mulch and soil production plant in Orrville, OH, and will be responsible for operating our bagging lines.

What you’ll do in this role:

• Operate and maintain mulch and soil bagging lines.
• Operate a forklift to transport materials.
• Actively maintain good housekeeping standards in their assigned area.
• Maintain and clean machines before and after each shift.
• Perform routine safety and quality checks.
• Solve daily operations problems with limited supervision.
• Maintain accurate records of raw materials, samples & equipment operations.
• Support all plant operations, potentially including but not limited to operating a front-end loader for cutting sphagnum bales and pushing up bulk piles, operating a loader for making bulk mixes and loading hoppers, operating a dozer for yard maintenance, and hand packing cases on the small pack line.
• All other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need to be successful:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum of one plus years of production plant experience is preferred.
• Able to identify all materials used, detail oriented, follow safe practices and procedures, ability to read English and or follow directions
• Able to work in a dusty environment, hot/cold/ rainy weather, lift 50 pounds, and be able to climb ladders and work on their feet for the entire day.
• Willingness to work mandatory overtime including weekends and holidays.
