Job summary

OPW is seeking a skilled Machine Operator for our Whitsett, NC facility. The role involves CNC milling and turning to produce valve and regulator components, reading blueprints, and performing precise inspections with calipers and micrometers.

Candidates should be comfortable working on a Friday–Sunday schedule and lifting up to 45 pounds. Ideal applicants will have 3–5+ years of CNC experience, basic math skills, and a strong focus on quality and safety in a busy production environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; machining/trade school preferred.
• Experience reading blueprints is a plus.
• Strong math skills and basic shop mathematics required.
• Knowledge of precision gauging and measuring tools is important.
• Ability to lift 45 pounds and work a 7:00 am–7:00 pm shift.
• Commitment to safety and quality in a production environment.

Responsibilities

• Run CNC machines (lathes and mills) to produce valve and regulator parts.
• Read blueprints and inspect parts with gauges (Go/No-go, calipers, micrometers).
• Load bars into bar feeders and manage part flow.
• Ensure coolant lines are set and flowing; perform minor deburring.
• Follow tool layouts and maintain safe working conditions.
• Demonstrate problem solving and adherence to safety procedures.

These individuals read blueprints, start and operate manual and CNC machines, perform quality checks with various gauging equipment, and perform minor preventative machine maintenance.
