Job summary

Spectrum Brands is hiring a Machine Operator to set up, run, monitor and change over equipment in a manufacturing setting. You will adjust tooling as needed to sustain quality and safety standards. The role emphasizes adherence to safety protocols and clean, organized work areas.

You will work with maintenance on preventive tasks and with cross-functional teams to meet daily production schedules. Prior experience is a plus, but training is provided.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Fork lift certification and LOTO training preferred or provided internally.
  • Experience as a machine operator is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, monitor, and changeover assigned machines.
  • Adjust equipment and tooling to meet quality specifications.
  • Follow safety protocols including LOTO and PPE usage.
  • Maintain clean and organized work area using LEAN/5S principles.

Division Information

The Pet Care business unit of Spectrum Brands is based in St. Louis, Missouri with distribution, manufacturing and sales offices throughout the US and globe. Job Summary

The Machine Operator will be responsible for performing various tasks required to set up, operate, monitor, and changeover the assigned machines. The Machine Operator will also be responsible for making equipment adjustments, or tooling changes as necessary to maintain a safe work environment and quality specifications.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Follow all established equipment Safety protocols (strict adherence to Lockout Tagout procedures and PPE requirements).
  • Ensure production meets quality standards.
  • Ensure the work area is clean & organized using LEAN / 5S principles.
  • Use HMI (Human Machine Interface) Touch Screen to set-up and process jobs according to daily production schedules.
  • Use FLEX Metrics to capture equipment KPIs (Key Process Indicators).
  • Develop an in depth understanding of key equipment characteristics necessary to improve quality, prevent downtime, and reduce scrap.
  • Assist in equipment troubleshooting to identify root cause concerns and improve performance.
  • Assist in the development of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Work closely with Maintenance on planned preventative maintenance activities.
  • Work with Plant cross-functional Teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Profile
  • High School graduate.
  • Fork truck certification (internal training provided).
  • Trained in Lock Out Tag Out procedures (internal training provided).
  • 3 to 5 years of machine operator experience a plus.
Required Skills
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to consistent attendance.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office a plus).
  • Attention to detail.
Work Environment

Work is performed in a factory manufacturing setting. Exposure to shop environment such as noise, dust, odors, and fumes. Required to stand, bend, reach and move about facilities.
