Qualifications

  • Able to read and interpret prints, schematics, and layouts.
  • Ability to use measuring devices, micrometers, calibrated steel tapes, calipers, power and non-power hand tools.
  • Must have mechanical equipment experience. Experience operating overhead cranes, hoists, forklifts, flat beds, and tractors preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting automation equipment preferred.
  • Must have full vision, including color vision.
  • Ability to handle exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods, lift and carry up to 40 pounds, push up to 800 pounds with equipment assistance, reach overhead, repeated twist and bend at waist, climb ladders and stairs.
  • Ability and willingness to work weekends, including overtime.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain a government driver's license.

Title: Machine Operator
Location: Independence, MO
Salary: Starts at $24.12/hour with increase to $27.57 after 120‑day probation
Schedule: 4-10s; Eve M‑TH 6:00PM-4:30AM, Weekend Days TH‑SU 6:00AM-4:30PM or F‑M 6:00AM-4:30PM (shift assignment based on availability)

Responsibilities

Location Specific Requirements
  • This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
  • This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
  • This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies. The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
