Job summary

Stanley Black & Decker in Holliston, MA is seeking a skilled metal fabrication operator to run sheet metal equipment safely and efficiently. Read blueprints, set up punches/bends, inspect first parts, and collaborate with engineering to prototype as needed. The role may require overtime and offers comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of related experience in metal fabrication.
  • 3–5 years in a similar metal fabrication environment preferred.
  • Ability to read English-language blueprints.
  • Experience using measuring instruments (verniers, gauges).
  • Strong math calculation abilities.
  • Good communication skills.

Job description

Summary:Primary responsibility is to ensure that shift operations in Detail Fabrication run safely and efficiently. Setup, operate and knowledge of Amada HFB Press Brakes, Trumpf/Bystronic machines a plus. Use computer software/application in accordance with Lista standard procedures.Responsibilities:Participates in and actively supports corporate programs and initiatives; understands, supports and upholds Company policies and procedures. Uses judgement to plan, perform, make decisions and improvements as to the sequence of operations and processes in coordination with other departments. Collaborates with other Dept Leads/Supervisors to coordinate daily production needs. Inspects first piece of raw material, work in process (WIP) and all fabricated parts. Reads and interprets blueprints checking parts to prints to ensure that parts are manufactured to the specifications. Reviews and interprets job aids and shop orders. Uses measuring instruments, such as verniers and gauges, to measure material; make necessary adjustments to ensure quality parts. Performs math calculations, to correctly setup machine. Reads, interprets, and completes routine paperwork; records proper information to ensure accuracy of inventory. Requests additional material and assignments when necessary. When problems arise, independently contact the appropriate work areas for support. Performs or assists with preventive maintenance of equipment. Performs other duties as required or directed.Knowledge and Skills:Requires 1-2 years’ experience in a related job; 3-5 years in similar metal fabrication environment preferred Must be able to perform all functions in department as directed by Supervisor Significant knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes such as punching, bending, welding Solid mechanical ability and prior machine operator experience Must be able to read and interpret blueprints which are in English and operate basic measuring instruments Ability to use hand, air, and electric powered tools and drive material moving equipment Ability to set up machine and tooling Working knowledge of tooling and fixtures within equipment Ability to work with engineering team to execute prototypes if needed Good communication skillsEssential Functions:Ability to read, write, understand and communicate clearly in English as it pertains to the jobAbility to perform basic math calculationsMust be able to continuously walk/stand 4 – 12 hours dailyMust be able to perform frequent lifting up to 33 lbs. independently and more with equipment assistanceMust be able to frequently push/pull product on carts, racks, pallets and shelvesMust be able to work in a plant with seasonal fluctuations of indoor climate (heat)Must be able and willing to work overtime as needed including weekdays and weekendsThe Hourly rate for this position is $22.07 - $26.74This is the lowest to highest hourly rate we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.
