Job Responsibilities
- Responsible and accountable for the setup, changeover, and operation of brake press, including changing dies and adjusting machine settings, as well as reading and interpreting blueprints to ensure accurate production.
- Able to follow detailed instructions and adapt quickly to changing priorities and deadlines, while accurately identifying required materials, specifications, and dimensions, as well as consistently adhering to all safety and quality procedures.
- Responsible and accountable for producing quality work to prescribed standards, with a focus on continuous improvement to meet customer commitments on schedule and within budget.
- Follow written work instructions and maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety procedures, including those governing the handling of materials, chemicals, tools, and equipment (WHMIS).
- Properly use required PPE.
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.
- Complete repair, fabrication, modification, and installation of sheet metal parts, items, and assemblies. Possess knowledge of physical properties and working characteristics of sheet metal as well as knowledge of tools and equipment required in the sheet metal trade and shop mathematics and principles.
- Use shop mathematics to determine curves, angles, and pitch.
- Plan and make pattern and template layouts.
- Use measuring instruments.
- Operate shop tools and equipment to construct manufactured items and systems with various seams and shapes.
- Work with various kinds of metal, including magnesium, honeycomb material, carbon fiber, galvanized and black iron, aluminum and aluminum alloys, stainless steel, copper and brass sheets, lead alloys, and bronze.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
