Job summary

Silgan Containers is seeking a Machine Operator to keep production lines running and ensure items meet specifications, with a focus on Safety, Quality, and Housekeeping. The role requires 12-hour shifts, weekend/overtime availability, and effective communication of machine and process issues.

Responsibilities include safe machine operation under GMP, documenting bottle quality requirements, troubleshooting, performing color changes, and basic preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• GED is required.
• High school diploma preferred.
• At least 6 months of machine operator experience is required.
• 1 year of blow molding operator experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write and communicate orally with good attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Ensure machine is functioning safely in accordance with GMP and housekeeping standards.
• Understand bottle quality requirements and document those requirements.
• Sustain efficiencies and scrap to meet company goals.
• Ability to diagnose problems and troubleshoot tasks.
• Comply with directions from supervisors and managers.
• Perform color changes when required.
• Perform minor preventive maintenance on machines during shift.
• Complete quality inspections and record them in SPC software.
• Perform mechanical and process-related troubleshooting on plant processes.
• Take on additional duties as needed to support the plant.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Machine Operator is responsible for keeping machine running during their shift and producing items that meet the stablished specifications while also focusing Safety, Quality and Housekeeping.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensuring machine is functioning safely in accordance with GMP and housekeeping standards
• Understanding of bottle quality requirements and documentation of those requirements
• Sustain efficiencies and scrap on production machines that meet company goals
• Ability to effectively communicate machine, process, quality related issues
• Effectively diagnose problems and logically troubleshoot tasks
• Comply with direction from supervisors and managers
• Perform and complete color changes when required
• Perform minor preventive maintenance to the machines during their shift
• Complete quality inspection and record them in our statistical process control software
• Mechanical and Process related troubleshooting on specific processes in the plant
• Perform any additional assigned duties as needed to support the plant

EDUCATION:

Required: GED

Preferred: High school diploma

EXPERIENCE:

Required: 6 months as a machine operator.

Preferred: 1 year experience as a blow molding operator.

SKILLS:

Required: Ability to read, write and communicate orally. Good attention to detail.

Ability to enter machinery safely and unhindered by physical restriction.

Willingness to work 12 hours on either day or night shifts, weekends, and overtime

Preferred: Ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English.
