Job summary

Dayton Superior Corporation in Braselton, GA is seeking a manufacturing machine operator to maintain and operate conventional, special purpose, and CNC machines including grinders, drills and presses.

You will work on-site in a busy factory environment, keep a clean, safe work area, pack finished materials, check parts against specifications, document production tickets, and assist with minor troubleshooting as needed.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred; 0-2 years in manufacturing.
  • Ability to read safety SOPs and use all safety features.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, and measurement with a tape measure.
  • Willingness to work on-site in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operates specified machines (CNC, brake presses, drills, grinders) to meet production targets.
  • Maintains a clean, safe work area and follows procedures.
  • Packs finished materials and assists with loading/unloading.
  • Verifies finished parts meet specifications and documents results.
  • Notices malfunctions and may address simple issues during shift.

Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining and operating machinery, including conventional, special purpose, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines. Includes grinders, drills, and presses.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
  • Operates assigned machines, including resistance welding, brake presses, and mechanical power presses. Operates saws, drills, and grinders. Consistently meets production requirements.
  • Maintains clean and safe work area.
  • Packing finished materials into dunnage and also loading and unloading.
  • Checks that the finished workpiece conforms to the specifications.
  • Completes documentation correctly for process monitors and production tickets.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions and also may fix issues that might occur during the shift.
Nature and Scope
  • Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction. Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor. Deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor.
  • Under close supervision, exercises limited latitude/independent judgment. Work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior coworker and/or supervisor.
  • None.
Work Environment
  • Typically located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.
  • Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment that may be heavy (50+ pounds) or awkward.
  • No travel required.
Education and Experience
  • HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. 0-2 years of experience in area of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to read and understand all safety operating procedures and to use all safety features and equipment.
  • Ability to use basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplying, dividing, counting and the use of tape measure.
  • 1 to 3 years' related experience.
