Maintenance Mechanic Job Duties
- Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance on pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, conveyor systems, and production machines; follow diagrams, sketches, manuals, and specifications, and troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices, listening for issues, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- Remove defective parts by dismantling devices; use hoists, cranes, hand and power tools.
- Determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; use calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
- Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments with hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
- Fabricate repair parts using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
- Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions.
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops or other required training.
- Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Able to work 12‑hour rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays when needed.
- Available to work overtime hours.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Minimum of two years industrial or automotive mechanic experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Excellent attendance record.
- Excellent safety record.
