Machine Maintenance Technician Senior

3rd Shift

Job Summary:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to installations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, maintaining, and calibrating the following systems: Electrical, electronic, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and associated equipment, and processes used in the manufacturing of tungsten carbide and ceramic tools including facility equipment. The job is subject to general work instructions, standardized practices and procedures, and supervision of progress and results. Must follow safety procedures, recommended practices, job safety analysis (JSA), safe work always permits and comply with plant safety programs.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  1. Repair equipment in accordance with standard engineering practices and original equipment manufacturers (OEM) technical manuals.
  2. Ability to read and comprehend schematics, multi-meter & ammeter utilization, 3-phase and single-phase motor control, PLC & ladder logic programming & understanding (AB SLC-500 & MicroLogix, Control Logix, RS Logix).
  3. Soldering, power tool usage capability, welding: arc and/or TIG, pipe fitting; soldering/threading, power transmission applications knowledge (gearboxes, sprockets, & belts), pneumatics/hydraulics.
  4. Perform troubleshooting, diagnosing, repair and maintenance of all manufacturing and associated service equipment identifying the root cause of the problem.
  5. Maintain pneumatic and hydraulic systems controls and components.
  6. Rebuild all machine accessories, pumps, motors, dressing units, and fixtures.
  7. Complete scheduled electrical/electronic overhaul/rebuild of equipment, including rewiring and replacement of motors, encoders/resolvers, electronic printed circuit boards, proximity switches, micro switches, relays, timers, etc.
  8. Calibration and testing upon completion of overhaul.
  9. Working from prints, sketches, schematics, vendor equipment manuals or verbal instructions to maintain equipment in adjustment, aligning, and fitting.
  10. Preventive maintenance, including inspection, repair and lubrication of all manufacturing equipment and processes and facility equipment following plant-wide preventive maintenance program.
  11. If applicable, provide maintenance for plumbing and HVAC equipment as required.
  12. Utilize basic CNC processing and test equipment in diagnosing and correcting defective components.
  13. Operate and repair machine tools by welding, fabricate sheet metal items as needed.
  14. Make brackets, accessories and repair parts as needed.
  15. Review all work orders, order supply parts electronically.
  16. Calibrate manufacturing equipment and processes and facility equipment in accordance with OEM suggested guidelines.
  17. Install new equipment: disassemble, relocate, and reinstall existing equipment per current electrical and plumbing guidelines.
  18. Acts as informal resource for colleagues with less experience.
  19. Interact with staff in all departments of the plant, as well as outside vendors and service engineers.
  20. Attend technical training sessions to upgrade skills and knowledge of increasingly sophisticated equipment and processes.

Education, Work Experience, Skills, Certificates Necessary to perform the job at the minimum acceptable level and preferred:

Associate degree or equivalent in industrial maintenance and/or relative discipline and 3-5 years’ maintenance repair experience in a manufacturing facility required. In lieu of experience, licenses, certifications will be considered.
