We are looking for Applied Scientists to drive innovation with Gen AI to bring a paradigm shift to how the business operates and build a world-class experience for customers. We work on challenges including building Agentic AI systems, fine-tuning Large language models for domain-specific use cases, Reinforcement Learning, automated cloud optimization, and generating strategic insights from very large datasets. You will have an opportunity to lead, invent, and design technology that will impact customers across all AWS services. We are building industry-leading technology across ML techniques from Natural Language Processing to Deep Learning and Generative AI, taking ideas from concept to experiment to prototype and finally to production.

Responsibilities

• Lead, invent, and design technology that will directly impact every customer across all AWS services.
• Drive innovation with Gen AI to bring a paradigm shift to how the business operates and deliver a best-in-class customer experience.
• Work on science challenges such as Agentic AI systems, fine-tuning LLMs for domain-specific use cases, Reinforcement Learning, automated cloud optimization, and extracting strategic insights from large datasets.
• Contribute to taking ideas from concept to experiment to prototype and finally to live production systems.
• Collaborate with principal-level product, science, engineering, and leadership teams to build scalable solutions.

Basic Qualifications

• PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
• 3+ years of building models for business application experience
• Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
• Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics or equivalent quantitative field
• Experience in professional software development

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and RSUs. Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
