Job summary

Realm Labs is offering a research-focused ML internship in Sunnyvale, CA, centered on trust and safety in large language models. You will tackle prompt injections, safety alignment, guardrails, privacy, confidentiality, and interpretability, with room for related topics tied to your research.

Ideal candidates include PhD students or those with research experience and peer-reviewed work, proficient in PyTorch, HuggingFace, and DL evaluation.

Qualifications

• Research experience with ability to pose questions and perform literature review.
• Read and write research papers and technical articles.
• PhD student or student with research experience and peer-reviewed work.
• Experience with ML tools PyTorch, HuggingFace, transformers, datasets.
• Applied deep learning and LLM experience; training/evaluating deep models.
• Nice to have fine-tuning LLMs and multimodal LLMs.
• Familiarity with NLP/LLM interpretability methods and related techniques.
• Strong software skills: Python, Unix, Git, Jupyter; cloud exposure (AWS/GCP).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to ML research on trust and safety in LLMs.
• Work on prompt injections, safety alignment, guardrails, privacy, and interpretability.
• Plan and run experiments; read literature and publish results when possible.

Role Overview

This internship is focused on ML research mixed with applied ML and software engineering. Topic of the internship is around trust and safety in LLMs such as:

• prompt injections


• safety alignment and guardrails


• privacy and confidentiality


• interpretability

Other topics closer aligned with the student's research may be considered.

Expected Background: ML

• Machine learning tools: pytorch, huggingface, transformers, datasets.
