Job summary

Prime Video is seeking a self-motivated Software Development Engineer to design and build ML infrastructure powering personalization and scale. You will be a service owner, mentor engineers, and influence technical strategy across the team.

In this role you will collaborate with scientists and product managers to deploy scalable training pipelines, real-time inference, and feature stores, helping Prime Video deliver personalized experiences at global scale from Seattle.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

• Evolving the model serving and feature delivery infrastructure to enable continuous experimentation and keep pace with innovations in state-of-the-art ML capabilities.
• Designing and scaling training pipelines, real-time inference systems, and feature stores that support the constantly evolving landscape of Prime Video personalization across Movies, TV Shows, Live Sports, Linear TV, and beyond.
• Partnering with Scientists, Product Managers, and Engineering stakeholders to translate research breakthroughs into production-grade platform capabilities.

Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering customers a vast collection of premium programming in one app available across thousands of devices. Prime members can customize their viewing experience and find their favorite movies, series, documentaries, and live sports – including Amazon MGM Studios-produced series and movies; licensed fan favorites; and programming from Prime Video add-on subscriptions such as Apple TV+, Max, Crunchyroll and MGM+. We are looking for a self-motivated, passionate and resourceful Software Development Engineer to bring diverse perspectives, ideas, and skill-sets to make Prime Video even better for our customers. You will be a service owner helping to design and build the ML infrastructure that power our vision. You will tackle complex and ambiguous problems, designing and delivering scalable and resilient ML platform solutions from the ground up. You will not only write high-quality, maintainable code, but also mentor other engineers, influence our technical strategy, and drive engineering best practices across the team. Your work will directly contribute to making Prime Video's operations more efficient and will set the technical foundation for years to come.

A day in the life

As SDE / MLE, you will collaborate with engineering and science teams on building the ML platform that powers personalization solutions at incredible scale and speed. You will be operating with state of the art technologies in distributed systems and machine learning infrastructure. You will foster a culture of innovation and excellence, leading and growing talented junior engineers on your team and around PV. At the end of the day, you will have the reward of seeing your platform enable ML models that delight PV customers worldwide (including yourself!)

About the team

This team is at the heart of PV personalization, building the ML platform that enables scientists and engineers to rapidly develop, deploy, and iterate on models that understand customers' preferences based on their past engagement, current context, and other signals. We power the infrastructure behind video discovery experiences across PV, operating in a complex business/tech space that requires us to move at speed and support rapid prototyping and experimentation.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
