Job summary

Hadrian is building autonomous factories that accelerate aerospace and defense manufacturing. We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to own the ML lifecycle for language models that understand and reason about manufacturing data packages.

You will research, develop, and deploy fine-tuned language models, build annotation tooling, and collaborate on roadmap for the AI platform, turning accuracy gains into measurable time savings at scale.

Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of professional AI/ML experience, with at least 2 years working directly with large language models.
  • Strong Python and PyTorch fluency; custom training loops, loss functions, and data loaders.
  • Production deployment ownership: shipped models to production and managed endpoints and model health.
  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent industry experience valued equally.

Responsibilities

  • Research, develop, and deploy fine‑tuned language models for document classification, key information extraction, table parsing, and multi‑page/document reasoning.
  • Build and maintain annotation tooling, implement active‑learning loops, and engineer synthetic data augmentation strategies.
  • Develop evaluation frameworks that extend beyond accuracy and CER, quantifying system behavior and user impact.
  • Collaborate with the machine learning team to set technical and product roadmaps for the AI platform.
  • Advance the long tail, turning every percentage point of accuracy into measurable time savings at scale.

Job description

Hadrian is building autonomous factories that help aerospace and defense companies manufacture rockets, satellites, jets, and ships up to 10× faster and up to 2× cheaper. By combining advanced software, robotics, and full‑stack manufacturing, we are reinventing how America produces its most critical parts.

The Role

Copilot is our system for automating Design for Manufacturing (DFM) analysis and generating manufacturing processes. We work directly with operators to identify high‑impact opportunities to automate and augment with software. The DFM team builds the manufacturing data intelligence layer that serves as the spearhead of our automation stack, ingesting mechanical drawings, quality documentation, and CAD data to produce structured, actionable information for the factory. As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will own the ML lifecycle for the language models that understand and reason about manufacturing data packages.

What You’ll Do
  • Research, develop, and deploy fine‑tuned language models for document classification, key information extraction, table parsing, and multi‑page/document reasoning.
  • Build and maintain annotation tooling, implement active‑learning loops, and engineer synthetic data augmentation strategies alongside the core engineering team.
  • Develop evaluation frameworks that extend beyond accuracy and CER, precisely quantifying system behavior and user impact.
  • Collaborate with the machine learning team to set technical and product roadmaps for the AI platform.
  • Advance the long tail, turning every percentage point of accuracy into measurable time savings at scale.
What We’re Looking For
  • 5–8 years of professional AI/ML experience, with at least 2 years working directly with large language models (fine‑tuning, RLHF/DPO, or pre‑training); strong consideration for experience with layout‑aware models.
  • Strong Python and PyTorch fluency: custom training loops, loss functions, and data loaders written from scratch.
  • Production deployment ownership: shipped models to production and managed endpoints and model health.
  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent industry experience valued equally.
Bonus Points
  • Passion for manufacturing and a belief that the industry needs better software.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or manufacturing, especially with manufacturing data.
  • Published research or open‑source contributions achieving state‑of‑the‑art results on relevant benchmarks.
  • Prior experience in a high‑ownership startup environment.
Compensation

The target salary range for this role is $160,000 – $250,000. The actual range may vary based on experience. Salary decisions are based on education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skill set, geographic location, performance, and business needs.

Benefits for Full‑time Employees
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
  • 401(k) plan.
  • Relocation support may be provided under business need.
  • Flexible vacation policy.
  • Equity.
