Job summary

Manufacturing Technology, Inc. (MTI) in South Bend, IN is seeking a Machine Control Software Engineer to design, implement, document, and maintain software for friction welding machines.

You will work with controls, mechanical, and fluid power engineers to deliver state-of-the-art, custom equipment and interfaces. The role requires strong C++ and .NET experience, UML design, multi-threading, and HMI development, plus hands-on startup and debugging.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and developing WPF applications in MS Visual Studio.
• Experience using XML within WPF applications in MS Visual Studio.
• Experience with Industrial machine HMI development in a .NET framework environment.
• Strong background in object-oriented programming in a .NET framework environment.
• Experience with UML-based HMI software design.
• Experience with multi-threaded Windows applications.
• Experience with C++ DLLs interfacing in .NET.
• Knowledge of streaming concepts and UDP-based streaming.
• Experience developing software deployment packages.
• Understanding of Distributed Real-Time Control Systems (DCS, SCADA).
• Understanding of Hardware Abstraction Design and Implementation.
• Understanding of motion control and DAQ/sensors integration.
• PLCs knowledge (tags, communications) and Ethernet/tCPIP
• Machine networking and IoT concepts; familiarity with Modbus/Profibus.
• Experience with SVN/GitLab for source control.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Willingness to learn new processes.
• Eligibility to work in the US permanently.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain control software for Friction Welding Machines.
• Document and integrate software for machine interfaces and controls.
• Ensure software adheres to architecture and coding conventions.
• Assist with machine start-up, commissioning, and debugging.
• Advance verification, validation, and deployment of software.
• Provide technical support to customers and service personnel.
