Goodwin Recruiting is seeking a hands-on Machine Builder / Mechanical Assembler in Fort Wayne, IN to join a growing custom automation equipment maker. You will assemble, install, test, and calibrate automated machinery from the ground up on diverse projects.

Candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and experience in mechanical assembly or equipment installation will thrive; travel up to 20% is possible, including international assignments. We offer training and a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on equipment experience.
• Experience in mechanical assembly, industrial maintenance, machine rebuilding, or equipment installation.
• Willingness to travel approximately 20%, including potential international assignments.
• Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble custom industrial machinery and automated equipment.
• Install, adjust, and precisely align mechanical components.
• Perform electrical wiring, including control panels, sensors, and machine connections.
• Assemble hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical diagrams.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical assembly issues.
• Collaborate with engineering and controls teams during equipment testing and debugging.
• Assist with final machine testing, startup, and customer installations.

Machine Builder / Mechanical Assembler – Fort Wayne, IN

$25–$35/hour | Full-Time | Custom Automation Equipment

Are you mechanically inclined and enjoy building machinery rather than performing repetitive production work? We're looking for a hands‑on Machine Builder / Mechanical Assembler to join a growing custom equipment manufacturer in Fort Wayne, IN.

You'll help build specialized automated machinery from initial assembly through testing and customer installation. This is an opportunity to work on different projects, expand your technical skills, and become part of a small, collaborative team where your contributions matter.

Strong mechanical experience is essential, but previous custom automation experience is not required.

We're willing to train the right person.

Machine Builder Responsibilities

• Willingness to travel approximately 20%, including potential international assignments

Preferred, but Not Required:

• 2+ years of mechanical assembly or machine-building experience
• Experience reading mechanical blueprints or electrical schematics
• Electrical panel wiring or machine wiring experience
• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems knowledge
• Precision alignment and machine debugging experience
• Custom automation or industrial equipment manufacturing background
