Job summary

JR Automation in Nashville, TN is seeking a skilled Machine Builder to assemble custom automation equipment from engineering drawings. You will perform precision mechanical assembly with strong attention to fit and finish and support testing and validation.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, hands-on assembly experience in automation, and the ability to read drawings and CAD prints. Travel up to 20% may be required; onsite at customer sites.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Machine Builder, Mechanical Assembler, or in a related role within automation/manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, CAD prints, and assembly documentation.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on assembly skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a focus on quality and craftsmanship.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally.

  • Assist with machine debugging, testing, and validation.

Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Machine Builder with strong mechanical aptitude and exceptional attention to detail, particularly regarding fit, finish, and high-precision assembly. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling custom automated machinery from the ground up. This includes mechanical assembly, system integration, testing, and assisting with installation as needed.

The ideal candidate takes pride in their craftsmanship, demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills, and thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced engineering environment.

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Travel up to 20% of the time may be required. This may include domestic and international travel, depending on project requirements.

What You’ll Bring

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or apprenticeship preferred
  • Proven experience as a Machine Builder, Mechanical Assembler, or in a related role within automation or machinery manufacturing is highly preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on assembly skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a focus on quality, alignment, and overall craftsmanship
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, CAD prints, and assembly documentation
  • Experience using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and mechanical assembly equipment
  • Familiarity with pneumatics, linear motion components, and industrial hardware
  • Basic understanding of electrical wiring or panel wiring, or a willingness to learn, is a plus
  • Ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and adapt in a custom-build environment
  • Prior JR Automation experience or experience within the automation industry is strongly preferred
