Job summary

GP Reeves, Inc. is seeking a Machine Builder to assemble machine components, modify electrical enclosures, and construct aluminum frames in a robust industrial setting in Holland, MI.

You will work from drawings and templates, using drills and jigsaws to ensure precise holes and fits. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of machine-building experience, solid mechanical skills, and the ability to read technical drawings.

Qualifications

• Proficient in reading and interpreting drawings and layouts.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure quality and reduce scrap.
• Ability to work in an industrial environment with safety in mind.
• Experience with hydraulic/pneumatic and electrical systems preferred.
• Familiar with power tools such as drill press and jigsaws.

Responsibilities

• Assemble machine components and enclosures per drawings and templates.
• Modify aluminum plates and build extrusion frames using specified templates.
• Utilize hydraulic/pneumatic and electrical schematics to assemble systems.
• Communicate drawing discrepancies and progress with teammates.
• Follow checklists to ensure quality and timely delivery.
• Overtime or weekend work may be required based on orders.

Job description

The role of the Machine Builder is to build machine components and systems, modify electrical enclosures, aluminum plates, and build aluminum extrusion frames. Quality and accuracy are key to complete the job the first time to ensure minimal scrap and on time delivery of the job. A valid driver’s license is required, and forklift experience is a plus.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• 
  Complies with all safety rules and regulations.
• 
  Modify electrical enclosures using provided drawings and layout templates. This includes knocking out holes using drill bits in a drill press and handheld drill, using knock out punches, and using a jigsaw.
• 
  Modify aluminum plates and build extrusion frames using provided drawings and layout templates. This includes using drill bits in a drill press and handheld drill and tapping holes.
• 
  Use Hydraulic/Pneumatic and Electrical schematics to build machine components and systems.
• 
  Communicate with peers about the jobs, drawing discrepancies, completion of jobs, etc.
• 
  Utilize checklists and open issues list to ensure complete and quality product.
• 
  Overtime or changes in normal shift may be necessary based on customer orders including weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays.
• 
  Other duties as assigned. We have a flexible environment and work together as a team to do a variety of tasks throughout the facility to fulfill customer jobs.

Preferred Education and Experience

• 
  1-3 years machine building experience
• 
  Comfortable and able to work in an industrial environment.
• 
  Good mechanical skills including attention to detail.
• 
  Able to read and interpret technical drawings.
• 
  Experience with hydraulic/pneumatic and electrical systems.
• 
  Using light power tools including drill presses and jigsaws.
• 
  Valid driver’s license to deliver and pick up parts from local vendors.
• 
  Good written and verbal communication skills.
• 
  Must be able to work effectively with little or no supervision.
