Howmet Aerospace’s Wichita Falls, TX facility is seeking a Machine Tool Operator (CNC). You will machine castings using 4-axis and 5-axis mills, reading PC/AI instructions, and maintaining quality while working a 12-hour rotating night shift (7:00 PM–7:00 AM).

Pay starts at $22.80 and tops out at $27.32 per hour. Benefits include vacation, holidays, 401(k) with company match up to 6%, and comprehensive health plans. Background check and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Howmet Aerospace's Wichita Falls, TX facility has an opening for Machine Tool Operator (CNC).

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 12 HOUR ROTATING NIGHT SHIFTS, 7:00 P.M TO 7:00 A.M. (2 on 2 off, 3 on 2 off, 2 on 3 off)

Pay rate begins at $22.80 and tops out at $27.32

JOB SUMMARY:

Works under general supervision to machine plus metal off castings. Operates various machine tools varying from fully manual operation to completely automated computer-controlled machining centers. Receives comprehensive instructions from supervisor, engineering, and computer data base. Continuously works to meet quality customer requirements with minimum inventory. Works as a team member in a cell environment to optimize product flow.

Machine Tool Operator may not move for two (2) years unless movement is a promotion within the department.

Essential Functions
  • Using Computers (entering information, etc.)
  • Must be able to read and interpret Product Criteria (PC) and Activity Instructions (AI).
  • Must be able to function as a member of a team and be able to work under general supervision.
  • Must be able to maintain expected quality levels.
  • Comply with all site required policies and procedures including but not limited to: EHS, Quality, Code of Conduct and the Wichita Falls Employee Handbook.
Job Responsibilities
  1. Organize work in process into groups according to required machine operation.
  2. Call up appropriate machine instructions on CRT or PMS book.
  3. Install proper cutting tools into the machine tool, measure tool length, and enter measurement into the computer.
  4. Install correct fixture(s) into the machine tool.
  5. Using a personal computer, machine programs are to be transferred into the machine controller from the personal computer hard drive. Programs are to be backed up by the operator.
  6. Machine castings and visually inspect against PMS standards.
  7. Operator recognizes what constitutes a dull cutting tool and replaces as required.
  8. Responsible for product quality while performing semi-routine task.
  9. Maintains a clean and orderly work area with a continuous goal to improve the 5 S program.
  10. Responsible for safety and must wear required safety equipment.
Environmental Health and Safety Responsibilities
  • Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EHS regulations
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE). (Requires wearing safety glasses, hearing protection and metal tarsal shoes).
  • Report all job-related illness and injuries (Per Employee Handbook).
  • Report all safety, health and environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Attend all EHS training.
Physical Demands / Equipment Used

Physical Demands

  • Bending, stooping, lifting, manipulation and working on feet most of the time.
  • Reaching far and near.
  • Be able to finger press, use a keyboard, mouse and tolerate some hand/arm vibration.
  • Pushing, Pulling, Twisting and handles.
  • Pinching and gripping.
  • Lifting and carrying to the waist-to-chest high level, floor to waist and chest to overhead.
  • Moderate lifting >25lbs.

  • Six to eight months training to achieve proficiency.

  • Fadel Vertical 4 Axis Milling Machine.
  • Mori Seiki Horizontal 4 Axis Milling Machine.
  • Mori Seike Vertical 5 Axis Milling Machine.

Work Environment: (Chemical and Physical Exposure)

  • Exposure to high speed cutting tools, rapidly moving machine tables, and sharp edges/machine burrs.
  • May be exposed to noise, oil, dust, fumes, chemicals, heat and cold.

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
