Job summary

UW Medicine Primary Care Fremont is seeking a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C) for a 100% FTE daytime role. You will room patients, take vital signs, perform injections, prepare exam rooms, and assist providers with procedures.

The position requires graduation from an accredited MA program, Washington MA-Certified or eligibility within 6 months, and AHA BLS. The clinic is conveniently located near public transit and offers growth within our UW Medicine Primary Care network.

Qualifications

• Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve within 6 months of hire.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers.

WORK SCHEDULE

• Full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week)
• Monday-Wednesday, Friday 7am-5:30 (30-minute meal period)
• Rotating Saturday shifts (about 1 per month)
• Day Shift

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

UW Medicine board-certified providers offer a complete spectrum of primary care services five days a week, including family medicine with behavioral health, travel medicine, nutrition services, reproductive health and sports medicine.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
• Perform injections
• Prepare and clean exam rooms
• Submit medication prior authorizations
• Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
• Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
• Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
• Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
• Assist in transporting patients as required

REQUIREMENTS

• Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
• Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
• Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
