UW Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C) for the Pediatrics at Roosevelt unit in Seattle. This full-time position supports clinicians with patient rooming, vital signs, and preparation of exam rooms, while coordinating care with families and providers.

The role includes assisting with procedures, point-of-care testing, and patient transport, requiring BLS and WA MA-C certification within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a CAAHEP/ABHES-accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Must obtain Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified within 6 months of hire.
  • CPR/BLS for Healthcare Providers required.

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records.
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms.
  • Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and report to provider.
  • Act as a liaison between patient, family and providers.
  • Assist provider with procedures and medical exams.
  • Perform point-of-care testing and report abnormal laboratory values.
  • Assist in transporting patients as required.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

Conveniently located in Seattle’s University District, the Pediatric Care Center at UW Medical Center – Roosevelt provides comprehensive primary and specialty care for babies, children and young people to age 21. We also offer healthcare for LGBTQ children and youth.

Our services include well-child checkups, developmental screenings, care for acute illnesses, gynecologic care, school and sports evaluations, environmental health consults, guidance on behavioral and parenting concerns, hearing and vision screenings, and allergy services. We also offer interpreter services for non-English speaking families.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records

REQUIREMENTS
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
