Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System is hiring a Medical Assistant for the Lake Hazel Clinic in Boise, ID. You will support an Internal Medicine provider, room patients, collect vitals, perform phlebotomy, immunizations, and assist with chart prep and orders.

The role requires MA certification within 90 days, BLS, and is 40 hours/week with a 4-10 hour shift schedule. On-site clinic with X-ray and urgent care facilities nearby.

Qualifications

  • MA certification required within 90 days of hire from approved agencies.
  • New graduates: MA certificate or externship/experience required.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification required at hire.
  • CNA/EMT certifications do not count toward MA certification.

The Lake Hazel Clinic is now hiring for a team-oriented and efficient Medical Assistant for a new Internal Medicine provider!

Position Summary & Highlights
  • This position will support a new Internal Medicine provider to the clinic and will also work with other MAs and providers in the clinic.
  • Please make sure you meet the Minimum Requirements below before applying.
  • ***CNA work experience does not qualify applicants for the MA position. See Minimum Requirements below for details.***
  • This clinic offers family medicine to patients seeking help managing their wellness and chronic medical conditions.
  • The clinic is surrounded by an underserved residential area that continues to experience growth and development of new housing.
  • The Lake Hazel clinic has procedure rooms, lab and digital X-Ray services on site, in addition to a fully staffed Urgent Care facility open every day 8am – 8pm.
What You Will Do
  • In supporting the provider you will room patients, collect vital signs, medication review, perform phlebotomy, and administer immunizations/vaccines.
  • You will also complete chart prep, complete tasks and orders in the task inbox, including prior authorizations.
  • You may help cover for lunches and sick calls.
  • You will enjoy learning more about the provider and related preferences and takes feedback in stride.
  • An ideal candidate will have a friendly and positive attitude, is a team player, is patient-centered, and reliable.
  • You will also have excellent organizational and prioritizing skills, strong communication skills, and likes to have fun and enjoys potlucks!
Work Schedule
  • 40 hours/week, 4 - 10 hour shifts (Monday - Friday), day off still TBD.
  • Around the hours of 7:30am - 6:00pm. Exact schedule is still being determined.
  • This will mostly be a set schedule, but flexibility will be needed at times based on patient scheduling and clinic staffing needs.

Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.
  • MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies:
    • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
    • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
    • National Healthcareer Association (CCMA)
    • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
    • National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
    • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
    • National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)
  • New Graduates: 1) MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school. 2) Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months MA experience in lieu of the externship hours even with MA certification.
  • Medical Assistant with Experience: 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
  • Obtaining the MA certification typically requires completing an MA Program or working as a Medical Assistant for at least 1 year. See each of the credentialing organization sites for additional details. EMT and CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification.
