Job summary

Advocate Health is hiring a Medical Assistant at our Chicago, IL site (2301 E 93rd St). The role supports the care team with clinical and administrative tasks; requires a High School Diploma or GED and a MA credential or equivalent experience.

This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with some evenings and Saturdays as scheduled. You will take vital signs, prepare patients, assist with exams, administer meds and vaccines, perform lab tasks, and document care in the EHR.

  • Must have MA diploma or 2 years MA experience or be certified MA with 2 years experience.
  • Phlebotomy skills are preferred.

Job Description Summary: Support the care team by performing clinical and administrative tasks that are vital to patient care. Medical Assistants must adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure patient safety and confidentiality. They are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion during all interactions. Where You Will Work: Chicago, IL - 2301 E 93rd St Monday - Saturday: Must be available to work 1-2 late evening shifts per week (ending at 7:00 PM) and 1–2 Saturdays per month (8:30 AM – 12:30 PM)

We’re Looking For:

High School Diploma or GED required. Must have a medical assistant diploma or 2 years of medical assistant experience or be a certified MA with 2 years of medical assistant experience, to qualify. Phlebotomy skills are preferred.

AMG Southeast (2301 E 93rd St, Chicago, IL) is a fast-paced, team-centered primary care practice providing family medicine and internal medicine to patients from newborns through older adults. Our team delivers comprehensive care including routine physicals, women’s health, newborn and well-childcare, same-day sick visits, and chronic disease management. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
  • Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
  • Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
  • Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
  • May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.
  • Physical Abilities Testing may be required.
  • Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.
