Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System is hiring a personable Medical Assistant for the Boise Pediatrics clinic. This 36-hour-per-week role involves rooming, taking histories and vitals, administering immunizations, and supporting providers in a fast-paced pediatric setting.

Ideal candidates will have pediatric or family practice experience, the ability to multitask, and a team-oriented mindset. MA certification within 90 days is required, with CNA experience not qualifying.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.
  • MA certification within 90 days of hire from approved Saint Alphonsus credentialing agencies (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA, CMAC, NPCE MA).
  • New Graduates: MA certificate of completion or completion of externship/experience in lieu of externship hours.
  • Medical Assistant experience: 1 year MA experience or current MA certification or renew certification within 90 days from hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform rooming, collect patient history, and take vitals.
  • Administer immunizations and assist providers with minor procedures.
  • Complete point-of-care tests and process orders in the task inbox.
  • Work with pediatric patients and accompanying parents in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrate multitasking and prioritization in a pediatric/family practice setting.

The Boise Pediatrics clinic is now hiring for a personable and efficient Medical Assistant!

Position Summary & Highlights
  • This position will work 1:1 with a Pediatric physician but will also work with other MAs and providers as well in a wonderful care team environment.
  • Please make sure you meet the Minimum Requirements below before applying.

What You Will Do
  • Perform rooming, collect patient medical history, and take vitals.
  • Administer immunizations and work closely with the providers on some minor procedures.
  • You will complete POC and other tests, and also complete tasks and orders in the task inbox.
  • Pediatrics is a unique specialty in that not only is the child the patient, but their parents are also typically present at the clinic visit.
  • An ideal candidate has previous experience working in a Pediatrics or family practice clinic, enjoys working with children and parents, and can multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • You are also team-oriented and flexible, and enjoy a fun and fast-paced work environment!
Work Schedule
  • 36 hours per week, 4-9 hour shifts, during the work week Monday - Friday, rotating day off.
  • Around the hours of 7:45am - 5:30pm.
  • Clinic start and end times can vary based on providers schedule and staffing needs.

Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.
  • MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies:
    • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
    • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
    • National Healthcareer Association (CCMA)
    • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
    • National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
    • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
    • National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)
  • New Graduates: 1) MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school. 2) Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months MA experience in lieu of the externship hours even with MA certification.
  • Medical Assistant with Experience: 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
  • EMT and CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification. Obtaining the MA certification typically requires completing an MA Program or working as a Medical Assistant for at least 1 year. See each of the credentialing organization sites for additional details.
