Experience: 2–6 years pqe

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an associate to join the M&A and Private Equity practice of a leading international law firm in Houston.

The successful candidate will work on a strong pipeline of sophisticated public and private M&A and private equity transactions. The practice also offers exposure to energy-related work, although previous energy-sector experience is not required.

The role

• Advise public and private companies on complex mergers and acquisitions
• Represent private equity firms and their portfolio companies throughout the investment lifecycle
• Draft, review and negotiate transaction documents
• Coordinate due diligence and manage key stages of transactions
• Work closely with clients, partners and colleagues across related corporate practices
• Take increasing responsibility for managing transactions and junior team members
• Support energy-related transactions where relevant

Candidate profile

• Approximately 2–6 years’ relevant corporate experience
• Strong M&A and/or private equity experience gained at a recognised law firm
• Experience advising public companies would be advantageous
• Energy-sector experience is welcome but not essential
• Excellent drafting, analytical and transaction-management skills
• Strong academic credentials
• Confident managing multiple workstreams within fast-moving transactions
• Admitted to practise in Texas, or eligible to become admitted
