Job summary

HJSRLLC seeks two dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) to deliver advanced nursing care under the Medical Director at Wichita Falls State Hospital. You will provide care for individuals with intellectual disabilities and complex medical needs, ensuring safety and well‑being.

Position is a 6‑month contract in Wichita Falls, with onboarding aligned to the first of each month. Applicants must hold a current TX LVN license, have at least 2 years of nursing experience, pass background checks

We are seeking a two dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) to perform advanced vocational nursing work under the guidance of the Facility’s Medical Director. In this role, you will provide comprehensive care, treatment, and general welfare for individuals with intellectual disabilities, complex medical conditions, and mental or behavioral health needs.

Position Type: 6-Month Contract (2 Openings)

Key Responsibilities

• Direct Patient Care: Provide nursing services following the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) process. Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments; monitor weights, diets, feedings, and vital signs; observe for unusual symptoms or reactions.
• Clinical Judgement: Recognize signs and symptoms of illness and use appropriate nursing judgment to deliver quality care, including the initiation of acute care plans.
• Documentation: Complete timely computer data entry, reports, records, and files as required by HHSC policy standards.
• Compliance: Adhere to facility Standard Operating Procedures and accrediting body standards, including Joint Commission Guidelines, WFSH Policy and Directives, and HHSC Standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Licensure: Current, active license to practice nursing from the Texas Board of Nursing or a state recognizing reciprocity via the Nurse Licensure Compact.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
• Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.
• Clearances: Must pass background checks (including criminal history, fingerprints, and registry clearances), drug screening, and remain eligible to participate in Medicare and Medicaid programs.
• Health & Compliance: Must meet all HHSC immunization requirements.
• Training: Must complete facility and HHSC required training, including facility CPR certification.

Shift Availability & Schedule

• Work Days: Sunday – Saturday (Alternating shifts based on staffing needs).
• Available Shifts: (Unit-dependent)
  • 8‑Hour Shifts: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM | 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM | 10:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • 12‑Hour Shifts: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM | 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM | 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• Onboarding Requirement: New hire start dates align with the first of each month. Mandatory completion of New Employee Orientation (NEO/NNO) is required Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM during your first month.

Note: The official contract start date begins once all compliance, clearance, and onboarding criteria are fully met.
