Medical Center SE Texas Port Arthur is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Unit Secretary to handle clerical duties on the Nursing Unit and to perform direct care activities as part of an interdisciplinary team. The LVN operates under RN supervision with delegated nursing interventions and adheres to hospital policy.

Qualified applicants will hold Texas LVN licensure, ACLS/NRP credentials, and BLS in all areas, with strong communication skills and computer proficiency to support patient

Qualifications

• Current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in the State of Texas.
• Certification level courses (ACLS, NRP, etc.) as per department specific competencies.
• Stroke education, cardiac education and ortho education as per department specific competencies.
• Computer experience required including knowledge of hardware components, software and file management.
• Good communication skills.
• Current BLS certification in all areas

Responsibilities

• Perform clerical duties on the Nursing Unit.
• Provide direct care activities as assigned by the RN.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team when necessary.
• Maintain accountability for nursing knowledge and skills per policy and hospital philosophy.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Unit Secretary is responsible for the clerical duties on the Nursing Unit as well as being responsible for performing direct care activities and working an interdisciplinary team when necessary. The LVN functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and performs delegated functions and appropriate nursing interventions. The LVN maintains accountability for his/her own nursing knowledge and skills in accordance with policy and procedure and the philosophy, objectives and goals of the hospital.
