Job summary

Austin Regional Clinic in Austin, TX is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our patient-focused ambulatory care team.

You will administer medications, document patient status, perform routine testing, and support providers in a fast-paced clinic while upholding HIPAA and OSHA standards. Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of vocational nursing required.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in Texas and BLS CPR required.
  • Previous ambulatory or acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately reports and documents status, care rendered, provider orders, and patient contacts.
  • Refills medications following ARC protocols.
  • Rooms patients, records vital signs, and prepares for provider exam.
  • Follows clinic protocols and directions from nursing leadership.
  • Performs diagnostic tests (EKGs, audiograms, tympanograms, spirometry, vision screening).
  • Monitors inventory and restocks supplies; orders as needed.
  • Reviews provider refill baskets and assists with daily medication refills.
  • Reviews EPIC triage calls for callbacks.
  • Cleans patient rooms and handles laundry.
  • Assists with sigmoidoscopy and cardiac stress testing setup and cleanup.
  • Maintains equipment and sterilization activities.
  • Adheres to OSHA, HIPAA, and Code of Conduct policies.
  • Maintains regular attendance and follows core competencies.
  • Works holiday shifts as required.

Responsibilities
  • Accurately and completely reports and documents status, care rendered, response to care, provider orders, contacts with patient and/or other healthcare providers.
  • Refills medication following the ARC refill protocols.
  • Accurately and completely rooms patients, takes and documents vital signs, prepares patients for provider exam
  • Follows clinic protocols and directions given by nursing team leader or supervisor.
  • Performs diagnostic testing including but not limited to EKGs, audiograms, tympanograms, spirometry, and visual screenings with reporting and documentation as appropriate.
  • Monitors inventory of medical and/or office supplies and equipment, ensuring units and/or rooms are properly stocked and supplies are current and not expired. Orders supplies as needed.
  • Responsible for reviewing both Provider refill in basket and assisting with daily medication refill request using the ARC refill protocol.
  • Responsible for reviewing EPIC triage call in basket for any callbacks.
  • Cleans patient rooms as needed, including proper handling of dirty laundry.
  • Ensures laundry cart is stocked with fresh linens on a daily basis.
  • May assist providers with sigmoidoscopy exams and cardiac stress testing by setting up equipment, assisting with patient preparation, and cleaning and storing equipment after exam. Reports and documents appropriately.
  • Maintains equipment (autoclaves, sterilizes, washes speculums, checks expiration dates, etc.)
  • Adheres to all company policies, including but not limited to, OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct.
  • Regular and dependable attendance.
  • Follows the core competencies set forth by the Company, which are available for review on CMSweb.
  • Works holiday shift(s) as required by Company policy.
  • LVN:
    • Administers medications and injections.
    • Provides direct nursing care to patients and distributes medications and treatments under physician order according to accepted standards of care.
    • Teaches and counsels patients and families concerning heath assessment and care including prevention of disease and health maintenance.
    • May provide vaccine management including ordering and monitoring vaccine usage/wastage, facilitating the maintenance of the vaccines, participating in educational opportunities, utilizing the Texas Vaccine for Children Provider Manual, and completing reportable documentation as recommended by Texas Department of State Health Services.
    • May facilitate the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the immunization program.
    • Calls patients and informs of lab results.
    • Accurately and completely reports and documents status, care rendered, response to care, provider orders, contacts with patient and/or other healthcare providers.
    • Accurately and completely performs patient follow-up activities including laboratory results and diagnostics, appointments, referrals, medications, and call backs.
    • Participates in the orientation of new employees.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from an accredited school of vocational nursing.
  • Experience: Previous experience in an ambulatory or acute care setting preferred.
  • Required Certificate/License: Current licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in the State of Texas and current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card required. Will be required to maintain a current vocational nursing license and CPR certification during employment.
