Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso is seeking an LVN for PRN duties in a correctional health annex. The LVN will perform patient care activities for diverse ages under RN supervision in a secure facility.

Required: Texas LVN license, current CPR, HS diploma or equivalent, and graduation from an accredited LVN program. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred and computer documentation skills are essential.

The LVN performs a variety of patient care activities for patients of varying ages under the supervision of a Registered Nurse in a correctional facility.

Required Skills

• Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
• Possesses effective interviewing and data collection techniques.
• Technically competent in tasks within the scope of practice of an LVN.
• Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).
• Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
• Ability to utilize computers for documentation purposes.

Required Experience

A. Work Experience

• One year of experience as an LVN preferred.

B. License/Registration/Certification

• Current license as a LVN in the state of Texas.
• Current CPR.

C. Education and Training

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing.
