Job summary

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a licensed Vocational Nurse to join our medical network in Southern California. The role involves preparing exam rooms, taking vitals, and coordinating medications under provider direction.

Applicants should have an accredited LVN program, CA LVN license, BLS certification, IV/BW certification within a year of hire, and preferably 1+ year LVN experience in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Vocational Nurse program.
• Valid CA LVN license required.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association and/or American Red Cross.
• IV/BW certification within 1 year of hire.
• 1+ years LVN experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sets up exam room/procedure rooms for patient visits.
• Performs initial nursing intake and prepares patients for examination.
• Reviews medications and documents in the medical record.
• Coordinates prescribed medications, injections, or IV meds as advised by provider.
• Provides basic patient care including vitals and diagnostic tests.
• Observes patient and reports changes to provider for action.
• Assists with quality assurance and maintains regulatory compliance in the clinical environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs
• Performs initial nursing intake and prepares patients for examination.
• Prepares patients for examination by reviewing current medications and reviewing documents in medical record.
• Prepares medical chart and records patient information needed to support the reason for visit such as vital signs and reason for visit.
• Coordinates prescribed medications, injections, or IV medications using standard process and as advised by provider.
• Provides basic patient care and treatments such as taking vitals, performing diagnostic tests, phlebotomy, and specimen collection advised by the provider.
• Observes patient, documents, and reports any changes in condition to the provider for instructions in taking vital actions for care.
• Evaluates nursing intervention outcomes within the LVN scope of practice.
• Answers patient and physician incoming messages with provider input.
• Serves as a patient advocate and applies appropriate resources to support patient care.
• Provides review of MA skills and performance abilities using designated evaluation tools.
• Performs quality assurance and quality control measures to maintain compliance in the clinical environment.

Qualifications

• Education:
• Completion of an accredited Vocational Nurse program
• Licenses/Certifications:
• Valid CA LVN license required
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross required
• IV/BW (intravenous/blood withdrawal) certification required within 1 year of hire
• 1+ years of LVN experience preferred
