Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is hiring a licensed vocational nurse to provide nursing care at the IAH Detention Facility in Livingston, Texas. This part-time role involves evaluating detainees, administering medications, and collaborating with the health services team to ensure quality care.

You will work 32 hours per week with shifts based on facility need, and may be required to participate in on-call, with a $31/hour base and a $2 night differential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Six months of related nursing experience.
• Graduate of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nursing program.
• Active LVN license in Texas or compact state and CPR certification.
• Valid Texas driver's license or waiver by management.

Responsibilities

• Assess detainee condition and prescribe treatment under supervision per approved protocols.
• Assist with provider line; prepare examining room and equipment.
• Operate pill call, administer medications, document per policies and procedures.
• Perform emergency procedures as needed and request physician orders.
• Maintain clean work area and proper sanitation; ensure HIPAA compliance.
• Monitor potential health emergencies and protect confidentiality of records.
• Provide health counseling and education to individuals or groups.
• Prepare and maintain medical records, reports and logs.
• Conduct chart reviews and monitor detainees with serious health issues.
• Perform on-call duties and assist in emergencies and disasters.

Education

Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) program graduate

Texas LVN license or compact state license

Current CPR certification

Valid Texas driver's license

What you\'ll do:

You\'ll be responsible for providing nursing care and assistance for ill and/or injured persons. All decisions should be reviewed with the nursing director with the exception of routine duties assigned to the nurse (LVN) in compliance with MTC Medical and customer directives.

Position Responsibilities

• Under direction of health services administrator, supervising nurse and professional service providers and in accordance with approved treatment protocol, assess condition of and prescribe treatment for detainees reporting to sick call.
• Assist with provider line; prepare examining room and equipment.
• Operate pill call, administer medication and document as required by applicable policies and procedures. To include push and or wheel pill cart on facility campus.
• Perform emergency procedures as needed and call physician for treatment orders.
• Keep equipment and work area clean; utilize appropriate sanitation methods.
• Maintain absolute security and confidentiality of all medical records. Observe applicable HIPAA rules.
• Closely monitor all potential catastrophic illnesses.
• Comply with all applicable pharmacy laws, especially those covering controlled substances.
• Perform work on an on-call basis, as required.
• Provide health counseling and health education on an individual or group basis, as required.
• Prepare and maintain narrative, statistical, summary and operational records, reports, and logs.
• Conduct chart review; review status of detainees with serious health problems for completion of all necessary intervention and treatment.
• Perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters in include administering basic emergency medical aid, physically removing people away from dangerous situations, and securing and evacuating people from confined areas.

Education And Experience Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Six months of related experience
• Graduate of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nursing program
• Must possess a current, valid vocational nursing license for the state of Texas or a compact state and current CPR certification
• A Valid driver\'s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record (unless waived by management)
