Job summary

Astrana Health, Inc. is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for the Emergency Department at Foothill Regional Medical Center in Tustin, CA.

This full-time, on-site role supports physicians and RNs in a fast-paced ED, administering meds, performing exams, monitoring patients, and documenting care. The ideal candidate will hold an active California LVN license, BLS, and have at least 1 year of acute care or ED experience.

Qualifications

• California LVN license active and unrestricted.
• Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program.
• Current BLS certification.
• IV certification within 12 months of hire.
• 1+ year acute care/ED experience or related clinical work.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments within LVN scope and hospital policies.
• Assist with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and emergency interventions.
• Monitor patient conditions and document observations and responses.
• Perform basic IV management when certified.
• Apply infection prevention techniques during procedures.
• Support care through wound care, dressing changes, and specimen collection.
• Assist with activities of daily living and patient comfort.
• Document in the electronic medical record timely and accurately.

What You'll Do

As an Emergency Department LVN, you will assist in providing direct patient care under the supervision of registered nurses and physicians while supporting the department's commitment to safety, quality, and compassionate service.

• Administer medications and treatments within LVN scope of practice and hospital policies.
• Assist with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and emergency interventions.
• Monitor and report changes in patient conditions, taking appropriate action and documenting observations.
• Perform basic IV management when appropriately certified.
• Utilize aseptic and infection prevention techniques during treatments and procedures.
• Support patient care through specimen collection, wound care, dressing changes, and other clinical procedures.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, hygiene, comfort measures, and mobility needs.
• Provide compassionate, culturally sensitive care to patients and families during stressful situations.
• Ensure patient privacy, dignity, and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment.
• Accurately obtain and document vital signs and patient assessments.
• Record treatments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic medical record.
• Assist with patient transportation and coordination of care activities.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation to support continuity of care.

Qualifications

• Current, active, and unrestricted California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license.
• Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to obtain IV Certification within 12 months of hire.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment.
• Flexibility to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to remain calm and composed during emergency situations.
• At least 1 year knowledge and experience in an acute care, emergency department, urgent care, or related clinical experience.

Preferred

• Bilingual language skills.
• AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions

• Our organization follows an in person work structure where the expectation is to work onsite on a weekly basis. The hospital is located at 14662 Newport Ave, Tustin, CA 92780.
• The total compensation target pay range for this role is $30.00 - $40.00 hourly. The salary range represents our national target range for this role.
