JPS Health Network is seeking an LVN for the Correctional Health night shift. You will provide total nursing care under provider orders and supervision, ensuring patient safety and quality care in a correctional setting.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, documentation, vital signs, and facilitating staff education as a preceptor. Requires graduation from an accredited LVN program and Texas licensure, with BLS and additional certifications as listed.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Vocational Nursing.
• Current Texas LVN license by the Board of Nurse Examiners.
• Current JPS-approved BLS certification; maintain during employment.
• ACLS within 3 months (ED/CC only); EKG within 90 days (ED/CC only).
• PALS within 90 days (Emergency Dept).
• NRP within 6 weeks (Inpatient Women’s Services).
• Non-violent Crisis De-escalation training within 90 days.

• Delivers quality nursing care to assigned patients while preventing infection and injury.
• Records patients' medical information and vital signs.
• Monitors, reports changes in patients' conditions.
• Conducts specified laboratory tests and maintains accurate records.
• Precepts LVNs and non-licensed staff as directed.
• Participates in performance improvement initiatives within JPS.
• Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Job Summary:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse II is responsible for the total nursing care of assigned patients in accordance with provider's orders under the guidance and supervision of the nurse in charge.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities

• Delivers quality nursing care to assigned groups of patients while minimizing the risk of infection, contamination, harm, or injury.
• Records patients' medical information and vital signs.
• Monitors, records and reports symptoms and changes in patients' conditions.
• Conducts specified laboratory tests.
• Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records.
• Completes documentation to meet regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
• Provides patient education directed towards identified knowledge deficits.
• Guides, educates, and provides leadership as a preceptor to LVNs and non-licensed clinical staff, as directed.
• Participates in performance improvement process initiatives within JPS Health Network and assigned department.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited School of Vocational Nursing.
• Current licensure to practice vocational nursing in the State of Texas by the Board of Nurse Examiners and must maintain licensure throughout employment.
• Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
• ACLS within 3 months of hire (required in Emergency Department and Critical Care only).
• EKG test passed within 90 days of hire date and maintained throughout employment (required in Emergency Department and Critical Care only).
• Completion of Pediatric Life Support (PALS) within 90 days of hire and maintains credentialing throughout employment for the Emergency Department.
• Completion of unit specific competency-based orientation program within 90 days, if applicable.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification must be obtained within 6 weeks of employment (for Inpatient Women’s Services only).
• Approved Education and Training in Non-Violent Crisis De-escalation must be obtained within 90 days of hire date and maintained throughout employment for the Emergency Department.
• 4875 Licensed Vocational Nurse I: 0 -1.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4876 Licensed Vocational Nurse II: 2-4.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4877 Licensed Vocational Nurse III: 5-9.99 years of relevant experience.
• 4878 Licensed Vocational Nurse IV: 10+ years of relevant experience.
