University Medical Center of El Paso is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) for the Correctional Health Annex. This full-time night-shift role supports screenings, data collection and care plan execution under a Registered Nurse guidance.

Applicants should have a Texas LVN license, current CPR, and at least a year of LVN experience; vocational training is required, and pre-employment screening applies.

Performs screenings, collects data and contributes to the care plan under the direction of a Registered Nurse. May assist with a variety of patient care activities and interventions to inmates within the confines of a jail or detention facility.

Work Experience

One year of experience as an LVN preferred.

License/Registration/Certification

Current license as a LVN in the state of Texas required.

Current CPR

Education and Training

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Completion of a vocational nurse program required.

Skills

• 1. Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
• Possesses effective interviewing and data collection techniques.
• Technically competent in tasks within the scope of practice of a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
• Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish).
• Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
• Ability to utilize computers for documentation purposes.
