Job summary

UPMC in Pennsylvania is recruiting a Heart & Lung Transplant Fellow to participate in advanced training across two high-volume services. The fellow will facilitate the Heart and Lung Transplant services with graded responsibility toward independence under the direction of the division co-chiefs.

• Lead day-to-day management of heart and lung transplant inpatients, including pre-, intra-, and post-operative care and discharge planning.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care with transplant cardiology, pulmonology, ECMO/VAD, infectious diseases, pharmacy, PT/OT, social work, and care management.
• Participate in organ offers, selection conferences, planning, and OR participation for transplant procedures.
• Engage in quality and safety improvement initiatives in the transplant programs.
• Participate in call as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day?to?day management of heart and lung transplant inpatients, including pre?, intra?, and post?operative care, ICU rounding, and discharge planning.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care with transplant cardiology, pulmonology, advanced heart and lung failure teams, ECMO/VAD services, infectious diseases, pharmacy, PT/OT, social work, and care management.
• Participate in organ offers/list management, selection conferences, operative planning, and OR participation for transplant and related procedures.
• Engage in quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives within the transplant programs.
• Participate in call as assigned.
