Job summary

Premier Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep Medicine seeks a full-time Pulmonary Tech to perform diverse pulmonary function testing and arterial blood gas analysis, supporting physicians in assessing heart and lung capacity. You will guide patients, operate automated testing systems, and uphold safety and quality control standards.

Responsibilities include running tests, training staff, maintaining equipment, and ensuring accurate reporting of results while adhering to OSHA regulations and lab

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write and follow flow chart protocols.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions.
  • Must have critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to follow established safety, infection control, and isolation procedures.
  • CPFT and RCP certifications; BLS as a baseline certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performs pulmonary function testing and arterial blood gas analysis to assist physician.
  • Lead Pulmonary Tech Trainee in physician-directed tests.
  • Explain test procedures to patients and address questions professionally.
  • Observe patients for changes and seek assistance as needed.
  • Operate blood gas analyzer per State/Federal regulations.
  • Administer lung volume, pulmonary mechanics, and diffusing capacity tests.
  • Analyze gas results from shunt and exercise studies and report findings.
  • Assist in bronchoscopy setup and cleaning with physician.
  • Maintain testing equipment, QC, and stock supplies.
  • Complete safety and MSDS records; follow OSHA requirements.
  • Support in training new staff with performance evaluations and in-service education.

  • CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Basic Life Support (BLS) Cert Pulmonary Function Tech (CPFT), Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP)

  • Medical assistants with 1 yr experience with PFTs
Responsibilities
  • Full-time Day Position JOB SUMMARY The Pulmonary Tech performs various types of pulmonary function testing and analysis of arterial blood gases on patients to assist the physician in determining the capacity of the heart and lungs, and provides leadership for Pulmonary Tech Trainee performing physician directed diagnostic tests
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE Performs variety of pulmonary function testing, analysis and reporting of arterial blood gases in accordance to written and verbal orders from physician
  • Greets the patient, explains the test procedure, answers questions and attends to any patient needs in a professional manner
  • Diligently observes patient, recognizes changes in condition and promptly seeks appropriate assistance
  • Runs controls on blood gas analyzer in compliance with State and Federal regulations
  • Administers lung volume and pulmonary mechanics tests, and performs diffusing capacity tests using automated systems
  • Performs gas analysis of shunt studies and exercise studies including calculations and reporting results
  • Assists Physician with bronchoscopy including setting up and cleaning equipment
  • Maintains all equipment used for testing procedures including cleaning, repairing, quality control and stocking supplies
  • Completes record keeping requirements of safety inspections, MSDS, and other related safety information
  • Under supervision, assumes responsibility for Safety Procedure Manual, safety data as required by OSHA regulations
  • Assists in the training of new employees by providing input regarding performance evaluations of employees and coordinating and presenting in-service education material
  • Demonstrates equipment and testing procedures to in-house staff, medical students, clinic and hospital personnel, any outside medical personnel requesting such instruction upon request from laboratory supervisor
