Job summary

Hawthorn Elementary is hiring a Lunchroom/Playground Supervisor for the 2026-2027 school year. This 9-month, 5-hour-per-day position (10:15am-3:15pm) requires the ability to supervise students in the cafeteria and on the playground, maintain safety, and support staff as needed.

The role emphasizes organized student movement, age-appropriate supervision, and a positive, proactive approach to daily routines and discipline.

Responsibilities

• Organizes students entering the cafeteria into orderly lines for food.
• Maintains cafeteria order and supervises around tables.
• Circulates among tables to assist students and address minor issues.
• Informs staff of serious problems in the cafeteria.
• Notifies principal or admin assistant of disciplinary matters.
• Supervises lunchroom dismissal and enforces cafeteria rules.
• Keeps tables clean and contacts custodian for spills.
• Maintains a positive attitude around children.
• Observes schedules for arrival and dismissal from lunch.
• Move around play areas and respond quickly to risks.
• Directs organized movement to/from playground.
• Organizes playground activities and supervises students.
• Inspects playground equipment for safety and reports concerns.
• Responsible for play equipment used on the playground.
• Enforces rules established by the principal.
• Sends students to the health room for medical attention.
• Communicates with principal/teacher about disruptive students.
• Notifies principal of serious accidents and completes forms.
• Maintains enthusiasm and a positive job attitude.
• Move around playground areas and respond quickly to risks.
