Job summary

Washington County Public Schools seeks a Lunch Assistant at Western Heights Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. Under supervision, you will monitor students during lunch and recess, assist with trays and logistics, and help maintain a safe, orderly cafeteria and playground.

Hours are up to 2.25 hours per day, 180-day schedule, with a $15.00 hourly wage. This temporary, hourly position requires reliable attendance and the ability to work with diverse students and staff.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students and adults.
• Ability to supervise students in a lunchroom and during playtime.
• Regular and predictable attendance is essential for this role.
• Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Supervision and management of up to 90-100 students in the cafeteria.
• Maintain a calm, orderly environment and enforce good table manners and behavior.
• Address disturbances and respond positively to students.
• Assist with distributing lunch condiments and helping students with trays.
• Help students with thermos bottles and other dining tasks.
• Assist with orderly dismissal from cafeteria to classroom.
• Supervise 90-100 students on the playground and organize games when needed.
• Resolve minor conflicts diplomatically and work with staff to foster a positive environment.
