Job summary

McLean County Unit District No. 5 in Illinois is seeking a Noon Hour Supervisor to help provide a safe, orderly environment during lunch and recess. You will monitor student behavior, lead transitions to the cafeteria, and support positive behavior strategies.

Responsibilities include supervising outdoor playgrounds and indoor areas, managing equipment, and reporting injuries. Requires mandatory background checks and completion of required training before start.

• Strong verbal communication skills and ability to interact positively with children.

Responsibilities

• Maintain continuous visual contact and active interaction with students across assigned recess zones (playgrounds, sports fields, basketball courts, and indoor areas).
• Safely guide students from play area and ensure orderly line transitions into the cafeteria.
• Help set up and store recess equipment (balls, jump ropes, hula hoops) and return all assigned communication tools (walkie-talkie, whistle, fanny pack) at the end of each shift.
• Ensure safe play by prohibiting rough play, dodgeball, personal toys, trading cards, or climbing on snow mounds. Maintain awareness of outdoor conditions.
• Provide basic first aid (bandages, ice packs) using supplied fanny packs. Report head injuries or urgent medical concerns.
• Actively model positive, professional behavior. Recognize and reward students demonstrating positive behavior.
• Maintain constant radio contact with building office staff and administrative leadership.
• Monitor students in designated indoor recess areas during inclement weather.
• Supervise indoor games, coloring, and basketball activities, ensuring students clean up before period end.
• Assist students in maintaining a clean and respectful lunchroom environment.
