Job summary

Ridgefield Park School District is seeking a Lunch Aide to assist in the cafeteria and help maintain a safe, pleasant mealtime environment for students.

Under the supervision of the Principal/Cafeteria Manager, the Lunch Aide will supervise students, manage seating, assist with food service, and help keep the dining area clean. Residency in New Jersey or a plan to obtain it within one year is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Minimum experience as determined by the board.
• Ability to work successfully with children and adults and to perform assigned duties.
• Criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
• Current residency in New Jersey, approved residency waiver or candidate agrees to obtain residency within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises students in the cafeteria during meals.
• Maintains a system for orderly food purchase by pupils, disposal of food waste, return of trays and utensils.
• Sees that students are seated in assigned areas.
• Circulates among the tables during the mealtime to assist students or resolve minor problems.
• Informs assigned teacher of any serious infractions of discipline rules by students.
• Ensures the cleanliness of tables and surrounding areas.
• Organizes groups for orderly dismissal from the cafeteria.

REPORTS TO: Principal/Cafeteria Manager

SUPERVISES: The lunchroom activities under the direction of the building principal and assigned teaching staff.

JOB GOAL: To assist in the maintenance of an orderly, safe and pleasant atmosphere in the cafeteria by helping and supervising students at mealtime.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervises students in the cafeteria during meals.
• Maintains a system for orderly food purchase by pupils, disposal of food waste, return of trays and utensils.
• Sees that students are seated in assigned areas.
• Circulates among the tables during the mealtime so as to be available to children who need help or to resolve any minor problems that arise.
• Informs assigned teacher of any serious infractions of discipline rules by students.
• Ensures the cleanliness of tables and surrounding areas.
• Organizes groups for orderly dismissal from the cafeteria.

Work day is 70 minutes at the rate of $20/day.
