Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or similar Engineer to support the LTV program as an assembly, integration, and test Engineer summer intern in Huntsville, AL. You will work with senior engineers on the team to plan, execute, and document hardware integration and test activities.

The role emphasizes cross-disciplinary collaboration, design and test execution, and producing deliverables for MRRs/TRRs. A strong CAD background and proficiency with Microsoft Office are expected.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or similar in an ABET-accredited program with completion in 2027 or 2028.
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Knowledge of common hand tools.
  • Willing to work in-office in Huntsville, AL.
  • Able to track multiple tasks and prioritize work independently.
  • Self-motivated and quick learner for diverse engineering topics.
  • Experience with CAD software.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.

Job description

Humans left the moon for the last time on December 14, 1972, over 53 years ago! With renewed interest in exploration and commercial lunar development, NASA is investing with industry partners to design, build, and fly the next generation of crewed/remote-piloted/autonomous lunar surface vehicles. Leidos is actively involved with NASA delivering flight hardware for the Lunar Dawn team. Leidos is seeking a talented Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or similar Engineer to support the LTV program as an assembly, integration, and test Engineer summer intern.

As a core member of the team, you will play a valuable part in supporting and executing the LTV program for NASA. You will be required to support multiple tasks in parallel, productively contribute to team environments, and communicate effectively to management, coworkers, and customers. You must also be self-motivated and highly organized with a focus on managing customer expectations with a constant goal of generating high quality products that exceed stakeholder expectations. This is a dynamic opportunity supporting the Assembly, Integration, and Test team in which talented engineers can thrive working alongside senior engineers on a diverse array of multidisciplinary projects in the space systems arena.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Support engineering design and execution activities for hardware integration and testing of LTV systems
  • Perform research on test methods and test requirements to identify appropriate test scope and pass/fail metrics
  • Work with vendors on manufacturing quotes and purchase orders
  • Develop conceptual CAD models and produce engineering drawings for assembly tooling and test hardware/equipment
  • Produce assembly plans and procedures for hardware integration events
  • Produce test plans and procedures for test events
  • Prepare documents and deliverables for Manufacturing Readiness Reviews (MRRs) and Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs) and post testing reports
  • Work collaboratively with project team(s) to formulate innovative solutions to complex problems and products across a broad range of applications.
  • Support project team(s) across multiple disciplines with the completion of document deliverables
  • Develop and execute trade studies for the LTV program
Basic Qualifications
  • Position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Applicant must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or similar Engineering field, from an ABET accredited college or university with completion in 2027 or 2028
  • Applicant must be a US Citizen
  • Applicant must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Ability to perform physical work such as lifting up to 30-lbs
  • Knowledge of and ability to use common hand tools.
  • Applicant must be willing to work in-office in Huntsville, AL
  • Ability to track multiple tasks and prioritize work independently
  • Self-motivation and quick learner to adapt to the broad array of subjects and issues encountered
  • Experience with CAD software
  • Experience with Microsoft suite of office software(PowerPoint, Word, & Excel)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with PTC Creo or SolidWorks CAD software
  • Desire to solve complex technical problems and learn from a team of experienced engineers
  • Willingness to work on the shop or test floor for hardware build or verification events

Pay Range:

Pay Range $48,100.00 - $86,950.00
