Blue Origin Space Coast, FL is seeking an Avionics Technician to configure production areas, operate precision tools, and lead improvements for safe spaceflight. You will build and test avionics assemblies, harnesses, and power systems, ensuring quality and adherence to 5S practices.

The role requires interpreting drawings, wiring diagrams, and test procedures, with hands-on use of multimeters, oscilloscope, torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers. U.S.

Qualifications

  • Experience with avionics, or cable harness assembly and testing (Level I–III).
  • Ability to interpret drawings, schematics, and test procedures with minimal supervision.
  • Hands-on experience with precision calibration tools and testing power systems.

This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.We are seeking a skilled Avionics Technician who will leverage their technical expertise and leadership to ensure safe and efficient human spaceflight. This role involves setting up production areas, operating precision tools, and leading continuous improvement initiatives to support our mission of safe space exploration.**Position Specific Details:*** Shifts: **A Shift** - Mon-Fri (6:00 AM - 2:30 PM) / **B Shift** - Mon-Fri (2:00 PM -10:30 PM) / **C Shift** - Fri-Sun (6:00 AM-6:30 PM) / **D Shift** - Fri-Sun (6:00 PM - 6:30 AM)* Location: Space Coast, FL* Relocation: Available**Key Responsibilities*** Configure new production work areas with the necessary tooling and equipment to ensure efficient workflow and minimize any potential delays during the transition to high-rate manufacturing.* Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, cranes, etc.) and precision calibrated tools (torque wrenches, micrometers, etc.) to maintain high safety and quality standards.* Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for safety and efficiency, enhancing overall productivity.* Drive the transition from development to production, proactively performing troubleshooting and maintenance as needed.* Maintain clean and organized work areas following 5S principles to promote safety and operational efficiency.* Tasks involve preparing and testing payload systems and hardware by applying materials, conducting painting, sealing, composite layup, repairs, testing, and assisting with vehicle assembly and installation.* Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction, optimizing our ability to achieve our mission at scale.**Team Focus & Domain Expertise*** *Example: The Avionics Technicians at Blue Origin are essential in ensuring the precision and reliability of aerospace electronic systems through advanced testing and assembly techniques. As an Avionics Technician, you will be involved in the fabrication, installation, and testing of cable harnesses and avionics components. You will operate specialized equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, soldering irons, and crimping tools. Your role will be critical in maintaining the integrity and performance of our aerospace systems, contributing to the success of our missions.***Minimum Qualifications*** Experience with avionics, or cable harness assembly and testing: (0-3 years Level I Technician, 3+ Level II Technician, 5+ Level III Technician)* Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.* Proven ability to work independently from drawings, schematics, ICDs, and test procedures with minimal supervision.* Experience with precision calibration tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser tracker, and optical measuring instruments.* Extensive hands-on experience integrating and testing avionics assemblies, power systems, and complex wiring harnesses at the box, panel (APW), and vehicle/system level.* Experience performing and interpreting electrical checkout: continuity, insulation resistance (megger), hi-pot, bonding/grounding, and functional power-on testing.* Ability to lift 50lbs and comfortable working at heights (work stands, ladders, lifts) and/or in confined spaces.* Proficiency in digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.* Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion* Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.**Preferred Qualifications*** Experience performing electrical testing using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools.* Familiarity with aircraft electrical systems, wiring diagrams, and cable harness fabrication.* Understand clean as you go techniques and need for general cleanliness* Experience in application of sealants, adhesives, paints, and primers* Be able to manage flight and non-flight hardware* Industry certification, trade school training and/or degree in related field* Demonstrated success as a “hands-on” doer and/or leader* Work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with constantly evolving roles and responsibilities* Continuous improvement mentality.
